2007 LEADERSHIP MOUNT PLEASANT

What is Leadership Mount Pleasant?
Leadership Mount Pleasant is a community leadership development program, created by the Chamber to build a competent leadership pool for present and future community activities. Leadership graduates have and are serving on the City Coucil, the School Board and Industrial Development Corporation.

Why participate in Leadership Mount Pleasant?
Leadership Mount Pleasant participants receive an in depth and behind the scenes look at Mount Pleasant and Titus County. Participants network with other business representatives and community leaders.

What is the cost and time commitment?
Leadership Mount Pleasant is open to any Mount Pleasant/Tiuts County resident. Tuition is $400 per person. Tuition covers all program expenses including an overnight visit to the state Capitol. Each class is conducted during business hours and require approximately four hours per session.

January 2007 - Leadership Orientation
An overall view of the program and participant's responsibilities

Roper Course
Leadership Challenge Course helps identify leadership skills and develop confidence

January 18, 2007 - Chamber of Commerce Banquet
The Leadership Mount Pleasant 2007 Class will be recognized at the annual Chamber Banquet

February 2007 - City Government

Participants will become familiar and knowledgeable with various aspects of city government. Includes a tour of city facilities.

February 2007 - Media & Health Care
Following a presentation on the utilization of the media and its role in shaping the community's attitude, participants will visit Titus Regional Medical Center for a "behind the scenes" tour.

March 2007 - State Government in Austin
Class members will visit the State Capitol. This includes an overnight trip.

March 2007 - County Government & Postal Services
Participants will become familiar and knowledgeable with various aspects of the county and federal government.

April 2007 - Utilities
A look at the role of energy and utilities have in the community. This will include a tour of the TXU and/or AEP facilities.

April 2007 - Education
Participants will become familiar with the challenges and opportunities facing Mount Pleasant ISD and Chapel Hill ISD.

May 2007 - College & Arts
Participants will becom familiar with the role of NTCC and the Arts have in the community.


May 2007 - Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development & Tax Appraisal District
An in-depth presentation and discussion on the roles of the Industrial Foundation, Chamber of Commerce and Tax Appraisal District.

May 2007 - Graduation
Class members will be recognized for their completion of the course.
